Green Dot Acquires French LDPE Recycling Facilities

GreenDot Global has acquired two mechanical recycling facilities in Tence and Saint-Pal-de-Mons, France, from RG Group, expanding its footprint in low-density polyethylene (LDPE) processing and marking its first operational presence in the French market, according to industry reports.
The Germany-headquartered recycler now operates five mechanical recycling plants across Europe, including sites in Hörstel and Eisfeld in Germany and Piacenza in Italy. The addition of the French facilities strengthens its position in post-commercial and industrial polyethylene (PE) film recycling, a segment tied closely to packaging supply chains.
The move comes as parts of the LDPE recycling sector face consolidation, with some local operators exiting the market. By integrating RG Group’s assets, GreenDot is increasing its access to feedstock and processing capacity at a time when demand for recycled plastics remains closely linked to regulatory targets and brand commitments. The company said the acquisition will support converters and brand owners seeking consistent supplies of recycled material produced within Europe.
GreenDot has been building out its recycling platform through targeted acquisitions. The integration of RG Group follows its earlier expansion in Italy, and reflects a focus on scaling capacity in regions where policy frameworks are tightening requirements on recycled content.
“We are honored that, after the integration of Forplast last year, the highly skilled and recognized RG Group has now decided to join our team,” said Laurent Auguste, chief executive of GreenDot. “France is a key market in need of increased plastic recycling, and we aim to be a meaningful contributor to this transformation.”
France’s ecomodulation system, which adjusts fees based on the recyclability and recycled content of packaging, has created incentives for brand owners to increase the use of locally sourced recycled plastics. At the European level, upcoming requirements under the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) are also expected to lift demand for recycled polymers, particularly in flexible packaging applications.
RG Group currently processes more than 20,000 tonnes of LDPE film annually, with capacity that could be expanded beyond 35,000 tonnes, according to GreenDot.
“Joining GreenDot enables us to scale our impact and further develop high-performance LDPE recycling in France,” said Eric Preynat, chief executive of RG Group.
The acquisition adds capacity in a market where the supply of high-quality recycled film remains constrained, even as downstream demand continues to build.
