SOLARCYCLE, Prologis Sign Exclusive Deal to Scale Solar Panel Recycling Across U.S. Portfolio

U.S.-based SOLARCYCLE has entered into an exclusive recycling services agreement with Prologis, covering the management of end-of-life solar panels and related equipment across Prologis’s nationwide portfolio. The partnership underscores growing efforts to establish structured recycling solutions as distributed solar assets begin to reach the end of their operational life.
Under the agreement, SOLARCYCLE will act as the sole recycling provider for Prologis’s installations, which include more than 1 gigawatt of solar and battery storage capacity across logistics properties. While financial details were not disclosed, the arrangement is expected to provide SOLARCYCLE with a consistent stream of end-of-life materials, enabling more efficient planning of recycling capacity and infrastructure.
The recycling process involves dismantling photovoltaic panels to recover materials such as glass, aluminum, silicon, and other components for reuse. Advanced recycling methods aim to improve recovery yields and reintroduce these materials into domestic supply chains. Access to predictable material volumes is considered essential for optimizing processing efficiency and reducing costs over time.
The agreement reflects a broader industry shift toward lifecycle management of renewable energy assets. As early deployments of rooftop and distributed solar systems age, asset owners are increasingly required to manage decommissioning responsibly while minimizing landfill disposal. This trend is expected to accelerate as solar capacity continues to expand across the United States.
For Prologis, the partnership aligns with its strategy of integrating sustainability across its asset base. The company, which has developed one of the largest distributed solar portfolios in the country, has also supported SOLARCYCLE through its venture investment arm, reinforcing collaboration between infrastructure owners and recycling technology providers.
From SOLARCYCLE’s perspective, the exclusive agreement provides long-term visibility on material supply, supporting efforts to scale operations and refine its recycling processes. The company has indicated that stable input streams can help improve recovery rates and move recycling economics closer to parity with landfill disposal, a key factor in driving wider adoption.
Looking ahead, increasing regulatory scrutiny and corporate sustainability commitments are likely to drive further demand for solar recycling solutions. Partnerships between asset owners and recyclers are expected to play a central role in building the infrastructure needed to handle growing volumes of retired solar equipment.
