Paladin Expands Global ITAD Footprint with ICT Acquisition in €60M Investment Push

According to industry reports, Paladin EnviroTech has acquired Ireland-based ICT as part of a broader $70 million (€60 million) investment program aimed at scaling secure IT asset disposition (ITAD) and critical materials recycling capabilities globally. The move strengthens Paladin’s presence in Europe, particularly in Ireland, a key hub for data center operations.
The acquisition follows a series of transactions completed over the past nine months as Paladin expands its end-to-end service offering across international markets. While financial terms of the ICT deal were not disclosed, the company said the investment supports growing demand for secure data destruction and electronics recycling services, particularly from enterprise and hyperscale data center operators.
Founded in 2003, ICT is recognized as Ireland’s first provider to achieve R2v3 certification, a widely used industry standard for responsible electronics recycling and data security. The company processes more than 2,000 tonnes of end-of-life electronics annually and securely destroys over 500,000 data-bearing devices each year. Its services include on-site shredding, IT asset remarketing, certified data destruction, and data center decommissioning.
Following the acquisition, ICT is expected to transition to the Paladin brand and relocate to a newly leased 52,000-square-foot processing facility in Dublin. The expanded site is intended to enhance regional capacity for secure handling, logistics, and recycling of electronic assets, while maintaining strict chain-of-custody controls for sensitive data.
The ITAD process involves the secure collection, tracking, and processing of end-of-life IT equipment to ensure both data protection and material recovery. As volumes of retired hardware increase, driven by rapid data center expansion and shorter technology lifecycles, demand for certified, in-house processing capabilities has grown. Mobile shredding units and controlled processing environments are increasingly used to mitigate risks associated with data breaches and improper disposal.
From a market perspective, Ireland has emerged as a strategic location for ITAD services due to its concentration of data centers, often referred to as one of Europe’s primary digital infrastructure hubs. This has created a growing need for localized, compliant solutions that can handle large volumes of retired servers and storage devices.
Strategically, the acquisition aligns with Paladin’s focus on integrating secure data destruction with materials recovery, supporting both cybersecurity and circular economy objectives. By consolidating operations and expanding infrastructure, the company aims to provide consistent service standards across multiple regions.
The transaction also reflects broader industry trends, where ITAD providers are scaling operations to meet regulatory requirements, ESG expectations, and rising volumes of electronic waste, while ensuring traceability and compliance across the value chain.
