Ecocyclic and enespa Join Forces to Build Cutting-Edge Recycling Facility in Texas, U.S.

April 29, 2025

In a major step toward sustainable plastic waste management, Ecocyclic, a leading environmental technology firm based in Texas, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with enespa technologies us llc, the American subsidiary of Switzerland’s enespa ag. Together, they are building a state-of-the-art chemical recycling plant in Winnie, Texas, to convert plastic waste into sustainable, circular raw materials for use in the production of new plastics.

According to Ecocyclic, the plant, which is currently under construction, is expected to begin operations by Fall 2025. At full capacity, the facility will be able to process up to 10 metric tons per day of ISCC PLUS-certified, pre-sorted polyolefin plastic waste. This waste will undergo advanced chemical recycling processes, converting it into pyrolysis oil—a sustainable feedstock that can replace crude oil in the manufacturing of virgin-quality plastics.

Ecocyclic’s CEO, Naeem-Atiq Sadiq, emphasized that the partnership aims to lay the groundwork for a true circular economy in the plastics industry. “Through this partnership, we are laying the foundation for a truly circular economy in the plastics sector,” Sadiq said. “enespa brings world-class recycling technology, and Ecocyclic delivers market insight, local expertise, and innovation powered by AI.”

Ecocyclic’s deep understanding of the U.S. market, combined with its advanced AI-driven capabilities, will enhance the plant’s efficiency and scalability, allowing the company to replicate the success of the Winnie plant across the U.S. The partnership with enespa will provide the crucial engineering expertise needed to optimize the recycling process.

The plant will carry ISCC PLUS certification, a globally recognized standard for ensuring environmental sustainability and traceability in recycling practices. This certification ensures that the entire process, from plastic waste collection to the production of pyrolysis oil, adheres to the environmental and social standards. By committing to ISCC PLUS certification, Ecocyclic reinforces its dedication to providing transparent, verifiable carbon reduction solutions.

The partnership does not stop at Winnie, Ecocyclic noted. As part of the company’s long-term strategy, the Texas plant will serve as the first of five planned facilities across the U.S. By scaling up its recycling efforts, Ecocyclic aims to make a significant impact on the nation’s waste management system and contribute to a net-zero future.

“Partnering with Ecocyclic gives us the opportunity to bring our technology to one of the most critical markets in the world,” said Ben Richters, CTO of enespa. “Their advanced AI capabilities, strategic insight, and robust local infrastructure perfectly complement enespa’s engineering expertise, creating a powerful synergy for scalable impact.”

Ecocyclic’s CEO, Sadiq, believes the plant in Winnie represents more than just a recycling facility—it’s a model for a responsible, sustainable industry. “This is more than a plant—it’s a blueprint for responsible industry,” he remarked. “Our goal is to transform waste management and turn low-value plastic into high-value, clean energy feedstocks.”

The company’s ambitious plan to turn plastic waste into high-value, clean energy feedstocks is part of a larger vision to help transition the U.S. towards a circular economy and achieve significant carbon emissions reductions.

As Ecocyclic moves forward with its expansion plans, the partnership with enespa represents a pivotal moment in the development of sustainable recycling technologies. With a focus on technological innovation, environmental sustainability, and circular economy principles, this collaboration is set to significantly advance the future of plastic recycling in the U.S.
