Call2Recycle Canada and Lime Partner on E-Mobility Battery Recycling

September 17, 2025

According to a recent announcement from Call2Recycle Canada, it has partnered with Lime, a global provider of shared electric vehicles, to responsibly collect and recycle retired batteries from Lime’s fleet of e-bikes and e-scooters across Canada. The collaboration comes as e-mobility adoption continues to grow nationwide, highlighting the urgent need for safe and environmentally responsible battery management.

Industry observers note that with e-bikes and e-scooters becoming increasingly popular in Canadian cities, the volume of batteries reaching end-of-life has grown rapidly. Recent market data suggests that consumer demand for affordable and eco-friendly transportation options is driving this growth. Under the new partnership, batteries from Lime’s fleet will be collected and transported through Call2Recycle’s nationwide network to approved facilities, where valuable materials will be recovered and reused, minimizing environmental impact and supporting circular economy practices.

According to Lime, the company has implemented science-based targets aimed at achieving net zero by 2030 and has already reduced its emissions intensity by 66.8% since committing to this goal. “At Lime, sustainability is at the heart of what we do. We are excited to partner with Call2Recycle Canada to recycle our end-of-life batteries responsibly,” said Andrew Savage, Head of Sustainability at Lime. Likewise, Joseph Chung, VP of Account Management at Call2Recycle Canada, emphasized the impact of the program: “This partnership highlights Call2Recycle’s dedication to developing the proper infrastructure and collaborations to support Canada’s e-transport revolution.”

Call2Recycle Canada has nearly thirty years of experience in battery recycling and, according to the organization, has safely collected and processed over 55 million kilograms of batteries to date. As the use of e-transportation continues to rise, the program is expanding to meet the growing need for safe, convenient, and responsible recycling solutions. Analysts note that partnerships like this are essential for building a circular economy in e-mobility, allowing materials to be recovered and reused while reducing dependence on virgin resources. At the same time, such initiatives help companies meet evolving Canadian regulations on battery recycling and strengthen their sustainability credentials.

According to industry sources, the collaboration between Call2Recycle Canada and Lime marks a significant milestone in promoting sustainable e-mobility. By ensuring that end-of-life batteries are safely collected and recycled, both organizations are contributing to Canada’s clean transportation future while setting a benchmark for environmentally responsible practices in the rapidly growing e-transport sector.
