Baheti Recycling to Invest Rs. 3.51 Crore in Captive Solar Project to Advance Sustainability Goals

July 30, 2025

According to a company announcement cited by multiple local media outlets, Baheti Recycling Industries Limited, a major player in aluminium recycling and alloy manufacturing, has committed an investment of Rs. 3.51 crore to set up a 1.2 MW captive solar power plant at its facility in Gujarat.

The project is part of the company’s broader push toward sustainable manufacturing and energy efficiency. According to the company’s statement, the solar photovoltaic system is expected to slash energy expenses by up to 60%, with projected annual savings of approximately Rs. 1.25 crore. The move also aims to reduce the company’s carbon footprint, aligning with its long-term ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) objectives.

As noted by Baheti Recycling, its Chairman, Shankerlal Shah, described the solar initiative as “a strategic step toward enhancing operational efficiency,” adding that the project reflects the company’s commitment to sustainable growth.

The development follows a string of strategic expansions by Baheti Recycling. As reported by industry news sources, the company obtained the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) certification in June 2025, enabling direct supply to Tier-1 automotive manufacturers and enhancing its competitive position in both domestic and global markets.

According to public disclosures, Baheti has scaled its planned installed capacity to 34,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA), supported by a Rs. 10 crore investment per unit for advanced melting systems such as Tilting Rotary Furnaces (TRF) and Skelner furnaces. The company has also extended its market reach to South India and Europe, adding major clients including Ashley Alteams, Uno Minda, Samvardhana Motherson, and Caparo India.

In addition, Baheti has recently expanded into the production of zinc alloys and aluminium billets, which is expected to drive margin stability across more than 10 industrial segments, diversifying its portfolio beyond traditional aluminium recycling.
