Reconomy Launches Nordic Division to Strengthen Circular Economy Services in Northern Europe

June 28, 2025

UK-based circular economy specialist Reconomy Group has launched Reconomy Nordics, a dedicated regional operation aimed at delivering its full suite of recycling and compliance services across Northern Europe, according to its company announcement.

The new entity integrates the group’s existing Nordic assets—waste and recycling experts Combineering and Sudamin Rohstoff—with data-driven compliance brand Comply Loop. The combination is designed to offer a comprehensive solution for companies navigating increasingly complex environmental regulations, including Denmark’s existing take-back schemes for WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and batteries, as well as the upcoming Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements for packaging, scheduled to come into force on October 1, 2025.

As reported by Reconomy, the move aims to help businesses across the region improve resource efficiency, reduce emissions, and comply with local and EU-wide sustainability legislation through data-backed solutions and advanced material recovery services.

Torben Kristiansen, currently Executive Director of CircuLab and now also Chief Business Development Officer for Reconomy Nordics, will lead the new division from its regional headquarters in Copenhagen. The office will also house business development and sustainability analysts from CircuLab, Reconomy’s new innovation hub focused on circular economy research and managed from Bucharest.

The launch of Reconomy Nordics marks the company’s latest step in its global expansion strategy. In recent months, Reconomy has completed its sixth acquisition in the United States, launched CircuLab to bolster sustainability innovation, and appointed a new Group CFO to support its next phase of growth.
