Comstock Metals and Virtus Renewables Join Forces on Solar Panel Recycling Partnership
According to a recent announcement from Comstock Inc., its subsidiary Comstock Metals LLC has entered into a strategic collaboration with Virtus Renewables Service Group Inc., aiming to provide integrated and environmentally responsible recycling solutions for solar energy infrastructure.
Comstock Metals, which is recognized as the first North American solar panel recycling firm certified under the R2v3/RIOS Responsible Recycling Standard, is known for its zero-landfill approach to solar panel recycling. According to Comstock’s official statement, the partnership will focus on developing and delivering comprehensive recycling, decommissioning, and logistics services specifically tailored to the growing renewable energy market.
Dr. Fortunato Villamagna, President of Comstock Metals, noted in a press release that the partnership “reinforces our mutual commitment and relentless dedication to innovate and integrate systems for responsible environmental stewardship.” He added that Virtus Renewables has built a reputation for its robust operations, maintenance expertise, and sustainability-focused project management in the clean energy space.
Virtus CEO Bo Thisted also commented on the collaboration, highlighting the opportunity to merge Virtus’s end-to-end renewable service offerings with Comstock’s cutting-edge recycling technology. “By teaming up, we are not only expanding our ability to serve the renewable energy market, but also ensuring that our customers benefit from a full lifecycle certification process that upholds the highest standards of sustainability, reliability, and service,” he said.
Corrado De Gasperis, Executive Chairman and CEO of Comstock Inc., emphasized that the agreement further illustrates Comstock’s mission to address critical gaps in solar panel recycling infrastructure. “This is another example of Comstock Metals’ ability to systemically address the critical gaps within the solar panel recycling industry, paving the way for robust, sustainable solutions across the renewable energy sector,” he stated.
