PureCycle Achieves APR Certification for Post-Consumer Resin
PureCycle Technologies has secured the Association of Plastic Recyclers’ (APR) (PCR) Certification for its flagship PureFive™ HPP15-100 resin, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable plastic solutions and transparency in recycled content sourcing, according to company announcements.
The HPP15-100 grade, produced at PureCycle’s Ironton facility, is reported to serve as the foundational material for all PureFive™ compounded resin blends. The certification confirms that this resin originates from post-consumer sources, providing customers with a verified, high-quality recycled material suitable for applications historically challenging for recycled content integration.
Dustin Olson, CEO of PureCycle, stated, “As proud members of the Association of Plastic Recyclers, it’s great to have this certification that validates the source of our recycled content.” He emphasized that third-party validation is increasingly important to customers and will support the ongoing commercialization of PureFive™ resin.
According to PureCycle, APR PCR Certification involves rigorous third-party audits conducted by ISO-accredited bodies to ensure that resin meets defined post-consumer sourcing standards. This process enhances market confidence and transparency, benefiting both buyers and sellers of recycled materials.
Steve Alexander, APR President & CEO, remarked, “A strong PCR market is essential to the success of recycling, which enables the circular economy and reduces plastic waste, natural resource extraction and greenhouse gas emissions.”
The certification comes at a time of growing regulatory and consumer pressure for sustainable packaging solutions. With global demand for recycled plastics increasing, verified post-consumer resin plays a critical role in closing the loop of plastic production and consumption. Companies that can reliably integrate high-quality recycled content are positioned to meet both sustainability targets and emerging compliance standards, such as those in North America and Europe.
PureCycle’s APR certification marks a significant milestone in expanding the market for post-consumer resins, supporting both corporate sustainability initiatives and broader environmental objectives.
