Hensel Recycling to Open Singapore Hub in Asia Expansion

Hensel Recycling is establishing a new subsidiary in Singapore as part of its strategy to expand across Asia, with operations set to begin in February 2026, the company said, positioning the city-state as a regional base to serve Southeast Asia and India, according to company reporting.

The move comes as demand for precious metal recovery continues to rise across Asia, driven by growth in automotive production, electronics manufacturing and stricter environmental controls on waste streams. Industry data published by trade groups show Asia now accounts for a growing share of global catalytic converter and electronic scrap generation, intensifying competition among recyclers seeking local processing capacity and reliable logistics.

Hensel Recycling Asia Pte. Ltd. will operate as a strategic hub, working alongside the group’s existing facility in Malaysia to shorten supply chains and improve access to customers in high-growth markets. The company said Singapore’s infrastructure, regulatory stability and proximity to key trading routes were central to the decision. Analysts say the location also offers advantages in financing, compliance and regional coordination compared with manufacturing-only sites.

The new entity will be led by Sivakumar “Siva” Avadiar, a veteran of the precious metals sector with experience in automotive catalytic converter recycling. Company executives said his technical background and regional market knowledge are expected to support customer acquisition and partnerships as the group scales its footprint. Managing Director Oliver Krestin said the expansion would strengthen service reliability and quality for clients handling complex precious metal-bearing materials.

Industry observers note that European recyclers have increasingly targeted Southeast Asia in recent years, responding to both rising scrap availability and tighter environmental oversight that favors formal recycling channels. Industry groups argue that localized processing reduces leakage of valuable metals while supporting higher environmental standards across cross-border supply chains.

Hensel Recycling said the Singapore expansion is part of a broader effort to build a more resilient global recycling network, complementing its existing operations and enabling it to respond to shifts in regional scrap flows and regulatory expectations. Observers say execution and integration with regional partners will be key as competition intensifies.
