Gold Prices Dropped! SUNSHINE Weekly Metal Prices Tracker: June 16-20, 2025

This week (June 16 to 20, 2025), metal prices exhibited some fluctuations across different markets. Based on the price data from the China, India, UK, and US Exchanges on the SUNSHINE, the following is a report on Copper, Aluminum, Gold, and Silver prices. 

Copper Prices

This week, copper prices across countries showed limited fluctuations, generally trending weak or sideways with no sharp movements.

China: Copper prices in China rose slightly in the first half of the week, followed by two consecutive days of decline, forming a “rise then fall” pattern. Prices fell from 78,550 CNY/MT (June 16) to 77,990 CNY/MT (June 20), down 560 CNY/MT or 0.71%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 13), prices remained nearly unchanged, with a slight drop of 0.03%. 

India: Copper prices in India fluctuated within a narrow range, ending the week slightly higher. Prices rose from 878.55 INR/kg (June 16) to 880.4 INR/kg (June 20), up 1.85 INR/kg or 0.21%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 13), prices increased marginally by 0.51%. 

United Kingdom: Copper prices in the UK declined for three consecutive days before rebounding slightly on Friday, but the overall trend was downward. Prices dropped from 9,703 USD/MT (June 16) to 9,633.5 USD/MT (June 20), a decrease of 69.5 USD/MT or 0.72%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 13), prices fell slightly by 0.12%. 

United States: Copper prices in the US fluctuated mildly this week, with the largest daily gain reaching 1.21%. Overall, prices edged up from 4.821 USD/Lb (June 16) to 4.8295 USD/Lb (June 20), an increase of 0.0085 USD/Lb or 0.18%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 13), prices rose by 1.76%. 

Aluminum Prices

Aluminum prices generally strengthened this week across countries. India and the UK saw more notable increases, while gains in China and the US were modest.

China: Aluminum prices in China climbed steadily in the first half of the week, peaking on June 18 before retreating slightly. Overall, prices rose from 20,405 CNY/MT (June 16) to 20,465 CNY/MT (June 20), up 60 CNY/MT or 0.29%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 13), prices rose slightly by 0.12%. 

India: Aluminum prices in India trended upward with minor fluctuations, ending higher at 246.5 INR/kg (June 20), up from 242.45 INR/kg (June 16). The weekly increase was 4.05 INR/kg or 1.67%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 13), prices rose 1.82%. 

United Kingdom: Aluminum prices in the UK were volatile, showing a “rise–fall–rise” pattern and ending higher overall. Prices increased from 2,513.5 USD/MT (June 16) to 2,549.5 USD/MT (June 20), up 36 USD/MT or 1.43%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 13), prices rose by 1.86%. 

United States: Aluminum prices in the US rose steadily through midweek before a notable pullback on June 20. Prices increased from 2,441.75 USD/MT (June 16) to 2,454.5 USD/MT (June 20), a gain of 12.75 USD/MT or 0.52%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 13), prices rose 1.80%. 

Gold Prices

Gold prices weakened across all countries this week. China recorded the sharpest decline, India remained relatively stable, and the US showed a mild downward trend. China: Gold prices in China declined throughout the week, falling from 791.66 CNY/g (June 16) to 778.52 CNY/g (June 20), down 13.14 CNY/g or 1.66%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 13), the drop was steeper at 1.91%. 

India: After a small early-week increase, gold prices in India declined in the last two sessions, ending slightly lower at 9,910.9 INR/g (June 20) from 9,917.8 INR/g (June 16), down 6.9 INR/g or 0.07%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 13), the price fell by 1.16%. 

United States: Gold prices in the US climbed early in the week before a sharp drop on June 18 and continued a mild decline, ending at 3,363.2 USD/oz t (June 20), down 22.2 USD/oz t or 0.66%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 13), the decline was 2.02%. 

Silver Prices

Silver prices across countries followed a “rise-then-fall” pattern this week. The US and China posted the largest weekly declines. China: Silver prices in China rose moderately early in the week, peaking on June 18 before sharply falling. Prices dropped from 8,848 CNY/kg (June 16) to 8,655 CNY/kg (June 20), down 193 CNY/kg or 2.18%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 13), prices fell 1.42%. 

India: Silver prices in India surged at the beginning of the week but fell for the next three days, hitting a weekly low. Prices decreased from 106,564 INR/kg (June 16) to 106,224 INR/kg (June 20), a drop of 340 INR/kg or 0.32%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 13), the decline was 0.25%. 

United States: Silver prices in the US rose significantly early in the week, reaching a high on June 18 before a steep fall on June 20. Prices fell from 36.31 USD/oz t (June 16) to 35.775 USD/oz t (June 20), down 0.535 USD/oz t or 1.47%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 13), prices dropped 1.38%.
