Note: Due to the International Labour Day, markets in China were closed holiday, markets in China were closed for two days (May 1 to May 2), resulting in a temporary suspension of trading.
This week (April 28 to May 2, 2025), metal prices exhibited some fluctuations across different markets. Based on the price data from the China, India, UK, and US Exchanges on the SUNSHINE, the following is a report on Copper, Aluminum, Gold, and Silver prices.
Copper Prices
This week, copper prices fluctuated considerably across various countries. Excluding China, copper prices in other countries saw significant declines on April 30, followed by a slight rebound, with an overall downward trend. The United States experienced a substantial drop of 3.71%.
China: Copper prices in China showed slight fluctuations this week, overall trending downward, from 77,760 CNY/MT (April 28) to 77,450 CNY/MT (April 30), a decrease of 0.40%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 25), there was a slight decline of 0.26%.
India: Copper prices in India fluctuated significantly this week, dropping by 3.13% on April 30, followed by a rebound, showing an overall slight decrease from 846.85 INR/kg (April 28) to 841.25 INR/kg (May 2), a decrease of 0.66%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 25), the price dropped by 1.10%.
United Kingdom: Copper prices in the UK showed significant volatility this week, with a daily drop of 3.34% on April 30, followed by a recovery. Overall, prices dropped from 9,378 USD/MT (April 28) to 9,365.5 USD/MT (May 2), a slight decrease of 0.13%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 25), there was a small drop of 0.09%.
United States: Copper prices in the US declined and then rebounded this week, with a daily drop of 5.24% on April a daily drop of 5.24% on April 30. Aluminum Prices

China: Aluminum prices in China continued to decline this week, with a slight overall decrease from 20,010 CNY/MT (April 28) to 19,975 CNY/MT (April 30), a drop of 0.17%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 25), there was a decrease of 0.57%.
India: Aluminum prices in India fluctuated this week, dropping by 1.61% on April 30, followed by a recovery, with a slight increase overall from 231.5 INR/kg (April 28) to 232.65 INR/kg (May 2), an increase of 0.50%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 25), there was a slight increase of 0.15%.
United Kingdom: Aluminum prices in the UK fluctuated significantly this week, with a drop of 2.68% on April 30, followed by a rebound on May 1 and 2. Overall, prices increased from 2,434 USD/MT (April 28) to 2,431.5 USD/MT (May 2), a slight decrease of 0.10%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 25), there was a small increase of 0.14%.
United States: Aluminum prices in the US showed a general trend of decline and then recovery this week, with a daily drop of 1.84%. Overall, prices decreased from 2,346 USD/MT (April 28) to 2,317.25 USD/MT (May 2), a drop of 1.23%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 25), there was a decrease of 1.60%.
Gold Prices
This week, gold prices saw a decline across various countries.
China: Gold prices in China trended downward this week, with a drop of 4.14% on April 30. Overall, prices decreased from 778.98 CNY/g (April 28) to 752.06 CNY/g (April 30), a decrease of 3.46%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 25), there was a drop of 4.32%.
India: Gold prices in India first declined and then rebounded this week, with the highest daily drop of 2.50% on May 1. Overall, prices decreased from 9,602.5 INR/g (April 28) to 9,263.7 INR/g (May 2), a drop of 3.53%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 25), there was a decrease of 2.48%.
United States: Gold prices in the US showed slight fluctuations this week, with an increase on April 29, followed by a continuous decline, with the highest daily drop of 1.69% on May 1. Silver Prices
This week, silver prices showed a downward trend in most countries, except for China, especially in the United States, where a continuous decline was observed.

India: Silver prices in India fluctuated greatly this week, with a significant drop of 2.27% on April 30, followed by a slight rebound, and then a decrease again. United States: Silver prices in the US showed a continuous downward trend this week, with the highest daily drop of 1.16% on April 30. Overall, prices decreased from 33.12 USD/oz t (April 28) to 31.91 USD/oz t (May 2), a drop of 3.65%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 25), the decrease was even greater, at 5.23%.
