Georgia-Pacific to Acquire Anchor Packaging, Expanding Footprint in Food-to-Go Packaging

September 10, 2025

Georgia-Pacific, a global manufacturer of paper-based and consumer products, confirmed that it will purchase St. Louis-based Anchor Packaging, a leading supplier of rigid food containers and cling film widely used across food service, retail, and processing sectors. The deal, first reported by the companies on September 8, remains subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the acquisition is expected to close later this year.

Anchor Packaging operates facilities in Arkansas and Wisconsin and has been part of TJC’s investment portfolio since 2019. By integrating Anchor’s product range with its own, Georgia-Pacific aims to enhance its Dixie® division, which supplies food service packaging and tableware across the United States.

David Duncan, Executive Vice President of Georgia-Pacific’s Consumer Products Group, said Anchor Packaging will “especially complement our Dixie® business” and support demand in the growing food-to-go sector.

Jeff Wolff, President and CEO of Anchor Packaging, added that the partnership will “expand our product portfolio, strengthen our supply chain and accelerate our commitment to innovation.”

Fernando González, President of Dixie, noted that the acquisition “aligns perfectly with our vision to be a preferred partner in providing innovative food and beverage packaging and tableware solutions to our customers.”

The acquisition comes amid rising demand for sustainable and convenient packaging solutions, driven by shifting consumer habits toward takeout and delivery services. Analysts note that regulatory pressures around single-use plastics and increased consumer focus on recyclable materials are reshaping the food packaging industry. Georgia-Pacific’s move positions the company to compete more effectively with global packaging leaders while broadening its ability to deliver innovative, eco-conscious solutions.

If approved, the transaction will give Georgia-Pacific a stronger foothold in the rapidly expanding food-to-go packaging market and reinforce its commitment to product innovation and customer service.
