Copper Prices Rise! SUNSHINE Weekly Scrap Prices Tracker: April 21-25, 2025
This week (April 21 to 25, 2025), scrap metal prices exhibited some fluctuations across different markets. Based on the price data from SUNSHINE for scrap metals in China, India, United Kingdom, and United States, the following is a report on the prices of Copper Scrap and Aluminum Scrap in the four countries.
China - Copper Scrap Prices
This week (April 21 to 25, 2025), copper scrap prices in China exhibited a steady upward trend, with daily gains ranging from 0.14% to 1.00%. Overall, prices increased by 1.00% to 1.43%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 18), prices rose by 1.10% to 1.57%.
Copper (Cu≈98%) recorded the highest gain this week, climbing from 70,000 CNY/MT (April 21) to 71,000 CNY/MT (April 25), an increase of 1,000 CNY/MT or 1.43%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 18), Copper (Cu≈98%) also saw the largest increase, followed by Bright Copper Wire, which rose from 69,900 CNY/MT to 72,000 CNY/MT, up 1,100 CNY/MT or 1.57%.

China - Scrap Aluminum Prices
This week (April 21 to 25, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in China generally trended upward. Most aluminum scrap types showed steady gains, with slight declines on April 22 for a few categories. Overall weekly gains ranged from 0.60% to 1.44%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 18), the increases were more pronounced, ranging from 0.98% to 1.73%.
6 Series Aluminum Chips recorded the highest increase this week, rising from 17,350 CNY/MT (April 21) to 17,600 CNY/MT (April 25), an increase of 250 CNY/MT or 1.44%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 18), 6 Series Aluminum Chips also saw the greatest increase, followed by Profile Raw Material, which rose from 15,250 CNY/MT to 15,450 CNY/MT, up 200 CNY/MT or 1.31%.

India - Scrap Copper Prices
This week (April 21 to 25, 2025), copper scrap prices in India experienced slight increases, remaining relatively stable. Overall gains ranged from 0.17% to 1.07%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 18), prices continued their upward momentum, rising between 0.17% and 1.42%.
Copper Utensil saw the largest gain this week, rising from 745 INR/kg (April 21) to 753 INR/kg (April 25), an increase of 8 INR/kg or 1.07%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 18), No.1 Copper showed the most significant increase, climbing from 670 INR/kg (April 18) to 679.5 INR/kg (April 25), an increase of 9.5 INR/kg or 1.42%.

India - Scrap Aluminum Prices
This week (April 21 to 25, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in India posted mild gains. Different aluminum scrap categories saw varying increases, ranging from 0.06% to 1.06%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 18), prices rose by 0.11% to 2.69%.
Aluminium Accessories Scrap led the week’s increases, rising from 189 INR/kg (April 21) to 191 INR/kg (April 25), an increase of 2 INR/kg or 1.06%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 18), Aluminium Accessories Scrap also saw the greatest rise, followed by Aluminium Utensils Scrap, which increased from 200 INR/kg to 202 INR/kg, up 2 INR/kg or 1%.

United Kingdom - Scrap Copper Prices
This week (April 21 to 25, 2025), all copper scrap categories in the UK showed an upward trend. Prices rose consecutively on April 23 and 24 before stabilizing, with overall gains ranging from 1.67% to 3.67%. The same trend was observed compared to the previous week (reference date: April 18).
Clean Copper Tube saw the largest increase, climbing from 5.45 GBP/kg (April 21) to 5.65 GBP/kg (April 25), up 0.20 GBP/kg or 3.67%.
Following closely was Braziery/Copper Cylinders, which rose from 4.15 GBP/kg to 4.30 GBP/kg, a gain of 0.15 GBP/kg or 3.61%.

United States - Scrap Copper Prices
This week (April 21 to 25, 2025), copper scrap prices in the US demonstrated a rising trend. Despite a dip on April 22, prices climbed consistently thereafter. Weekly gains ranged from 2.76% to 3.38%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 18), prices also rose, with increases between 2.37% and 3.73%.
Sheet Copper recorded the highest increase this week, rising from 2.96 USD/Lb (April 21) to 3.06 USD/Lb (April 25), a gain of 0.10 USD/Lb or 3.38%.
Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 18), Sheet Copper also showed the largest increase, followed by Copper No.2, which rose from 3.10 USD/Lb to 3.21 USD/Lb, up 0.11 USD/Lb or 3.55%.

United States - Scrap Aluminum Prices
This week (April 21 to 25, 2025), aluminum scrap prices in the US showed an overall upward trend. With the exception of Aluminum Copper Unit, which only rose by 0.61%, other aluminum scrap categories posted gains between 1.33% and 3.33%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: April 18), prices remained stable with no significant change.
Aluminum Wire saw the most substantial increase, rising from 0.60 USD/Lb (April 21) to 0.62 USD/Lb (April 25), a rise of 0.02 USD/Lb or 3.33%.
AL Extrusion followed, increasing from 0.85 USD/Lb to 0.87 USD/Lb, a gain of 0.02 USD/Lb or 2.35%.
