July 25, 2025

According to a joint statement, Circular Materials and Call2Recycle Canada have announced a strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing public awareness and sharing industry best practices for the recycling of packaging, paper, and batteries.

As reported by industry sources, both organizations are national leaders in extended producer responsibility (EPR). This partnership is expected to strengthen public education campaigns, improve communication strategies, and streamline recycling initiatives. Circular Materials and Call2Recycle’s flagship program Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! will jointly promote responsible recycling practices while supporting producers in meeting their regulatory obligations.

Allen Langdon, CEO of Circular Materials, stated that this cooperation “reflects our shared commitment to advancing material recovery rates and educating Canadians on proper recycling.” He emphasized that by working together, both organizations can better inform the public about recycling systems and enhance environmental outcomes nationwide.

Joe Zenobio, President and CEO of Call2Recycle Canada, highlighted the importance of battery safety, saying, “We know that education is key to ensuring batteries are recycled safely through one of our 15,000 collection sites, and that they don’t end up where they shouldn’t, like in blue boxes. Our partnership with Circular Materials helps amplify that message. Together, we’re not just raising awareness, we’re shaping a safer, more sustainable future for all.”

Industry observers note that this alliance sets a precedent for producer-driven collaboration, prioritizing safety, environmental stewardship, and nationwide public education.
