Campine Makes Binding Offer to Acquire Ecobat’s French Lead Recycling Operations
Ecobat, the Dallas-based leading battery recycler, has confirmed that it has received a binding offer from Belgium-based Campine NV to acquire its battery recycling and specialty lead manufacturing operations in France.
According to Ecobat’s official announcement, the proposed transaction includes Ecobat’s facilities in Estrée-Saint-Denis, Bazoches, and Pont-Sainte-Maxence, marking the company’s exit from the French market, except for its lithium-ion battery collection business.
This move is part of Ecobat’s ongoing strategy to streamline its operations and focus more on sustainable battery recycling, the company stated. Tom Slabe, President & CEO of Ecobat, commented in a press release that the transaction would allow the company to sharpen its focus on its core mission, and he expressed confidence that Campine’s expertise would provide a strong foundation for the future success of the French business.
Slabe added that while this transaction would mark Ecobat’s departure from France, the company would continue to pursue opportunities in other markets to maximize shareholder value. “We believe that Campine’s expertise and vision represent a strong foundation for the future growth and stability of the French recycling business, benefiting our employees, customers, and suppliers,” Slabe said.
The acquisition, however, is still subject to legal consultation and regulatory approvals, which are expected to be completed in the coming months. According to the report, Rothschild & Co acted as the financial advisor and White & Case as the legal advisor to Ecobat on the transaction.
