Jindal Films Europe Expands Brindisi Operations with Major Investment in Advanced Film Production

According to a recent announcement from Jindal Films Europe (JFE), a global leader in specialty film manufacturing is making a substantial investment to expand its operations at the Brindisi site in southern Italy. The move is part of JFE’s long-term strategy to strengthen its European presence, drive innovation, and enhance sustainability across its global network.

It is reported that the investment involves the installation of a new 10-meter hybrid Orienter line, currently under construction by Bruckner Maschinenbau. Once operational in the second half of 2026, the facility is expected to significantly increase its annual production capacity, positioning Brindisi among the largest film production hubs in Europe. The new Orienter line is designed to process both polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE), enabling the manufacture of a wide portfolio of specialty films, including BOPE Ethy-Lyte™, In-Mould Label (IML), Tobacco, Label, and Flexible Packaging films. According to industry sources, this technological versatility will allow JFE to respond more effectively to evolving customer needs across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

Jindal says that its Brindisi facility already houses advanced metallizing and coating technologies, capable of producing ultra-high-barrier (Alox and high optical density) films and applying innovative coatings on substrates as thin as 12 microns. The addition of the hybrid Orienter line will complement these existing capabilities, supporting JFE’s ongoing commitment to develop next-generation film solutions that combine performance, quality, and environmental responsibility.

“This new line is a cornerstone of our strategy to strengthen our European footprint and expand our capabilities with the latest technology,” said Gilbert Davids, CEO of Jindal Films Europe. “This latest investment will allow us to respond faster to market demands, support our customers’ evolving needs, and further our efforts to develop sustainable packaging solutions.”

Industry observers note that the global flexible packaging sector is undergoing a rapid transformation driven by stricter sustainability regulations and growing consumer demand for recyclable materials. In Europe, the new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is driving manufacturers to develop recyclable mono-material films and adopt low-carbon production technologies. According to analysts, JFE’s latest investment positions the company to play a leading role in this transition, aligning its development of BOPE and BOPP films with broader market trends toward circular economy practices and reduced environmental impact.

It is also understood that the expansion at Brindisi reinforces JFE’s strategic vision of maintaining robust manufacturing capabilities while remaining a trusted partner for major global packaging brands. By integrating advanced technology and sustainable practices, the company aims to enhance product reliability, reduce environmental footprint, and meet the growing demand for high-performance films across diverse industries.

According to Jindal Films Europe, this investment underscores its enduring commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability, further solidifying Brindisi’s position as a key production hub within its European and global operations.
