Georgia-Pacific to Expand Consumer Packaging Portfolio with Anchor Packaging Acquisition

September 11, 2025

According to reports from Georgia-Pacific, the company has reached an agreement to acquire Anchor Packaging, a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of rigid food containers and cling films. The acquisition is expected to strengthen Georgia-Pacific’s presence in the growing food-to-go market.

Anchor Packaging, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, with additional facilities in Arkansas and Wisconsin, has been part of TJC, L.P.’s portfolio since 2019, according to the company. The acquisition, which is subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions, is anticipated to be completed later this year. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Reports indicate that by integrating Anchor Packaging into its operations, Georgia-Pacific aims to complement its existing Dixie® brand offerings while expanding its product portfolio and innovation capabilities. The company plans to leverage its extensive distribution network and supply chain infrastructure to bring Anchor Packaging’s products to a broader market, serving food service, retail, and processing customers more effectively.

“Anchor Packaging will be a significant addition to Georgia-Pacific’s consumer products platform with capabilities that will especially complement our Dixie® business,” said David Duncan, Executive Vice President of Georgia-Pacific’s Consumer Products Group. Jeff Wolff, CEO of Anchor Packaging, added, “This partnership allows us to expand our product portfolio, strengthen our supply chain and accelerate our commitment to innovation.”

Industry analysts note that the food packaging sector continues to grow due to rising demand for ready-to-eat meals, convenience packaging, and increasing consumer attention to hygiene and sustainability. Strategic acquisitions in this space enable companies to consolidate supply chains, broaden product offerings, and accelerate innovation. Georgia-Pacific’s purchase of Anchor Packaging, according to reports, aligns with these trends and positions the company to capture opportunities in the food-to-go and retail food service markets more effectively.

With this acquisition, Georgia-Pacific strengthens its consumer packaging segment and reinforces its commitment to innovation and leadership in food packaging solutions.
