Ecore Expands Recreational Footprint with Acquisition of Pro-Techs Surfacing
Ecore International, a Pennsylvania-based company recognized as a global leader in circularity, has announced the acquisition of Pro-Techs Surfacing, LLC, a nationally recognized installer of playground surfacing solutions. By transforming reclaimed rubber materials into innovative, high-performance products, Ecore has built a reputation for advancing sustainability and reducing environmental impact. The acquisition strengthens the company’s position in the U.S. recreational and playground markets while enhancing its portfolio of safety surfacing brands, including Surface America, SpectraTurf, and Duraplay.
Pro-Techs, headquartered in Copley, Ohio, has delivered more than 2 million square feet of certified safety surfacing across schools, parks, and community spaces nationwide, according to its official website. The company’s products meet International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA) certification requirements and consistently exceed ASTM safety and performance standards.
The addition of Pro-Techs brings advanced installation expertise and environmentally safe surfacing systems that complement Ecore’s circular product design strategy. Together, the combined teams aim to accelerate the deployment of high-performance, sustainable solutions to a wider network of customers.
“This acquisition is another important step toward fulfilling our vision for Ecore to rid the world of rubber waste with the capabilities and scale to grow into key markets,” said Art Dodge, CEO of Ecore International. “What sets Pro-Techs apart is not only their quality and technical expertise, but the heart and strength of their team.”
Echoing the sentiment, Kal Krishan, President of Ecore’s Outdoor Surfacing Unit, added: “Pro-Techs has established itself as a trusted partner to playground surfacing stakeholders, sharing Ecore’s commitment to quality and safety.”
The U.S. recreational surfacing market is experiencing steady growth, driven by rising investment in community infrastructure and heightened safety regulations. With municipalities, school districts, and private developers placing greater emphasis on sustainability and compliance, demand for durable, eco-friendly playground surfacing is expected to climb. Ecore’s expansion reflects broader industry trends toward circularity, materials innovation, and community-focused design.
The integration of Pro-Techs into Ecore’s portfolio strengthens its ability to deliver environmentally responsible products that combine safety, performance, and sustainability, reinforcing the company’s long-term vision for a circular economy in the surfacing sector.
