Copper Prices Up! SUNSHINE Weekly Scrap Prices Tracker: June 9-13, 2025

This week (June 9 to 13, 2025), scrap metal prices exhibited some fluctuations across different markets. Based on the price data from SUNSHINE for scrap metals in China, India, United Kingdom, and United States, the following is a report on the prices of Copper Scrap and Aluminum Scrap in the four countries. 

China – Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (June 9 to 13, 2025), scrap copper prices in China remained relatively stable with a slight upward trend. Most categories showed small increases ranging from 0.14% to 0.28%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 6), price increases were slightly more pronounced, ranging from 0.20% to 0.58%. 

Copper (Cu≈98%) posted the largest weekly gain, rising from 71,800 CNY/MT (June 9) to 72,000 CNY/MT (June 13), up 200 CNY/MT or 0.28%. 

Compared to the previous week, Motor Copper had the highest increase, climbing from 68,500 CNY/MT (June 6) to 68,900 CNY/MT (June 13), an increase of 400 CNY/MT or 0.58%.

China – Scrap Aluminum Prices 

This week (June 9 to 13, 2025), scrap aluminum prices in China showed a consistent upward trend with almost no declines throughout the week. Weekly gains ranged from 1.93% to 2.89%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 6), prices also rose, with increases between 1.60% and 2.72%. 

Profile Raw Material recorded the largest increase this week, rising from 15,550 CNY/MT (June 9) to 16,000 CNY/MT (June 13), an increase of 450 CNY/MT or 2.89%. 

Compared to the previous week, Raw Aluminum posted the highest gain, increasing from 16,550 CNY/MT (June 6) to 17,000 CNY/MT (June 13), also up 450 CNY/MT or 2.72%.

India – Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (June 9 to 13, 2025), scrap copper prices in India trended upward, although Copper Heavy and Brass Sheet Cutting remained stable. Other categories rose between 0.12% and 1.27%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 6), increases ranged from 0.24% to 2.31%. 

No.2 Copper saw the largest weekly gain, rising from 551 INR/kg (June 9) to 558 INR/kg (June 13), an increase of 7 INR/kg or 1.27%. 

Compared to the previous week, Brass showed the highest increase, from 475.5 INR/kg (June 6) to 486.5 INR/kg (June 13), up 11 INR/kg or 2.31%.

India – Scrap Aluminum Prices 

This week (June 9 to 13, 2025), scrap aluminum prices in India showed mixed movement. Aluminium Utensils Scrap and Aluminium Accessories Scrap remained unchanged, while No.2 Aluminum rose and No.1 Aluminum and Aluminium Wire Scrap declined. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 6), only Aluminium Wire Scrap recorded a drop, with other categories staying stable. 

No.2 Aluminum had the highest gain this week, increasing from 179 INR/kg (June 9) to 180.5 INR/kg (June 13), up 1.5 INR/kg or 0.84%. 

Compared to the previous week, Aluminium Wire Scrap fell from 232 INR/kg (June 6) to 231 INR/kg (June 13), a decrease of 1 INR/kg or 0.43%.

United Kingdom– Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (June 9 to 13, 2025), scrap copper prices in the UK remained relatively stable, with minimal fluctuations observed in the market. 

United States – Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (June 9 to 13, 2025), scrap copper prices in the US were generally stable with minor fluctuations, showing slight declines. Except for Brass, which remained unchanged, other categories declined between 0.30% and 0.52%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 6), all prices were stable. 

Copper No.1 experienced the biggest drop, falling from 3.87 USD/Lb (June 9) to 3.85 USD/Lb (June 13), down 0.02 USD/Lb or 0.52%. 

Next was Sheet Copper, decreasing from 3.16 USD/Lb (June 9) to 3.15 USD/Lb (June 13), a drop of 0.01 USD/Lb or 0.32%.

United States – Scrap Aluminum Prices 

This week (June 9 to 13, 2025), scrap aluminum prices in the US showed mixed movements. AL Sheet and Aluminum Copper Unit remained stable, while other categories declined between 2.44% and 4.29%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: June 6), all prices were stable. 

Cast Alum posted the largest drop, from 0.70 USD/Lb (June 9) to 0.67 USD/Lb (June 13), down 0.03 USD/Lb or 4.29%. 

Next was Aluminum Wire, falling from 0.57 USD/Lb (June 9) to 0.55 USD/Lb (June 13), a decline of 0.02 USD/Lb or 3.51%.
