Copper Prices Up! SUNSHINE Weekly Scrap Prices Tracker: June 2-6, 2025

This week (June 2 to 6, 2025), scrap metal prices exhibited some fluctuations across different markets. Based on the price data from SUNSHINE for scrap metals in China, India, United Kingdom, and United States, the following is a report on the prices of Copper Scrap and Aluminum Scrap in the four countries. 

China – Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (June 2 to 6, 2025), scrap copper prices in China showed a slight overall upward trend. Most categories maintained stable or slightly rising daily prices with mild fluctuations. Prices for Motor Copper and Fire Line remained unchanged. Other copper scrap categories recorded increases ranging from 0.49% to 0.70%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: May 30), the price trend was consistent, with increases ranging from 0.30% to 0.42%. 

Copper (Cu≈98%) had the largest increase this week, rising from 71,300 CNY/MT (June 3) to 71,800 CNY/MT (June 6), an increase of 500 CNY/MT or 0.70%. 

Next was Bright Copper Wire, which rose from 72,300 CNY/MT (June 3) to 72,800 CNY/MT (June 6), also up 500 CNY/MT or 0.69%.

China – Scrap Aluminum Prices 

This week (June 2 to 6, 2025), scrap aluminum prices in China showed a steady upward trend with minor intraweek fluctuations. Weekly gains ranged from 0.32% to 0.65%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: May 30), prices declined slightly, with drops ranging from 0.28% to 1.27%. 

Profile Raw Material saw the largest weekly increase, rising from 15,500 CNY/MT (June 3) to 15,600 CNY/MT (June 6), up 100 CNY/MT or 0.65%. 

Compared to the previous week, Packing Cans experienced the largest decline, falling from 15,800 CNY/MT (May 30) to 15,600 CNY/MT (June 6), down 200 CNY/MT or 1.27%.

India – Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (June 2 to 6, 2025), scrap copper prices in India generally showed a slight upward trend, with increases ranging from 0.06% to 0.85%. Brass Sheet Cutting recorded the highest increase at 1.71%, while Brass Hunny Scrap remained stable. Compared to the previous week (reference date: May 30), the trend was similar. 

Brass Sheet Cutting rose from 585 INR/kg (June 2) to 595 INR/kg (June 6), an increase of 10 INR/kg or 1.71%. 

Next was Copper Heavy, which rose from 828 INR/kg (June 2) to 835 INR/kg (June 6), up 7 INR/kg or 0.85%.

India – Scrap Aluminum Prices 

This week (June 2 to 6, 2025), most scrap aluminum categories in India showed a moderate upward trend. No.1 Aluminum fluctuated but returned to its initial weekly price. Other aluminum scrap types rose by 0.26% to 1.60%. Compared to the previous week (reference date: May 30), performance was mixed: No.1 Aluminum slightly declined by 0.29%, No.2 Aluminum rose, and other categories remained unchanged after fluctuations. 

No.2 Aluminum recorded the largest increase, rising from 177.65 INR/kg (June 2) to 180.5 INR/kg (June 6), up 2.85 INR/kg or 1.60%. 

Compared to the previous week, No.1 Aluminum fell from 173.5 INR/kg (May 30) to 173 INR/kg (June 6), a decrease of 0.5 INR/kg or 0.29%.

UK – Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (June 2 to 6, 2025), scrap copper prices in the UK remained relatively stable, with minimal fluctuations observed in the market. 

US – Scrap Copper Prices 

This week (June 2 to 6, 2025), most scrap copper prices in the US showed significant increases, ranging from 6.35% to 8.25%. In contrast, Brass prices remained stable without notable fluctuations. Compared to the previous week (reference date: May 30), the trend was similar. 

Sheet Copper saw the largest gain, rising from 2.91 USD/Lb (June 2) to 3.15 USD/Lb (June 6), up 0.24 USD/Lb or 8.25%. 

Next was Copper No.2, which rose from 3.12 USD/Lb (June 2) to 3.35 USD/Lb (June 6), up 0.23 USD/Lb or 7.37%.

US – Scrap Aluminum Prices 

This week (June 2 to 6, 2025), scrap aluminum prices in the US fluctuated, with most categories declining. Declines ranged from 2.44% to 4.29%. AL Sheet and Aluminum Copper Unit returned to their initial prices after midweek volatility. Compared to the previous week (reference date: May 30), all categories ended with no net price change after intraweek fluctuations. 

Cast Alum experienced the largest drop, from 0.70 USD/Lb (June 2) to 0.67 USD/Lb (June 6), a decrease of 0.03 USD/Lb or 4.29%. 

Next was Aluminum Wire, falling from 0.57 USD/Lb (June 2) to 0.55 USD/Lb (June 6), down 0.02 USD/Lb or 3.51%.
