Circ Partners with Shenghong to Expand Commercial Use of Recycled Polyester Fibers

Textile-to-textile recycling company Circ has signed a partnership agreement with Shenghong Chemical Fiber New Material Co., Ltd. to support the commercial production of polyester filament yarn containing recycled material recovered from discarded textiles.

Under the agreement, Shenghong will purchase Circ PET chip for use in recycled-content filament yarn production. The partnership gives Shenghong access to textile-to-textile recycled feedstock while providing Circ with another route to market for its recovered polyester through an established Chinese fibre producer.

Shenghong Chemical Fiber New Material, part of Shenghong Holding Group, operates across new materials and textile manufacturing. Its capabilities include differentiated functional fibres, recycled polyester and direct-melt spinning technology, which Circ said will support the scale-up of recycled polyester filament applications.

The companies plan to combine Circ’s textile recycling technology with Shenghong’s fibre manufacturing and market reach to expand the availability of recycled polyester for fashion brands, textile mills and other supply-chain participants. Production in China also places the partnership close to major apparel and textile manufacturing markets.

“Scaling textile-to-textile recycling requires more than breakthrough technology. It requires strong manufacturing partners with the technical expertise, capacity, and market reach to bring circular materials into the mainstream,” said Peter Majeranowski, CEO of Circ. He said the partnership would create a more direct route for recovered textile materials to enter new fibre production.

Jason Tang, General Manager of Shenghong Chemical Fiber New Material, said the collaboration combines Circ’s recycling technology with Shenghong’s fibre manufacturing capabilities to support broader commercial use of recycled polyester.

The agreement is intended to validate Circ Polyester in commercial filament applications and establish a repeatable manufacturing model that can be expanded in the future. By connecting textile waste recovery with large-scale filament production, the companies aim to increase the supply of recycled polyester and reduce reliance on virgin fossil-based feedstocks.

For Circ, the partnership also forms part of its strategy to develop regional manufacturing relationships close to major fashion and textile supply chains. Such partnerships can provide brands and textile producers with more local access to recycled materials while supporting the expansion of textile-to-textile recycling capacity.

The companies did not disclose production volumes, investment or a commercial launch date for the recycled filament yarn.
