Call2Recycle and Earth Rangers Expand Battery Recycling Education Partnership Across Canada

Call2Recycle and Earth Rangers have extended their national partnership through June 30, 2028, expanding battery recycling education for students across Canada through Call2Recycle’s Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! program. The organizations have worked together since 2015.

Starting in fall 2026, battery recycling education will be incorporated into Earth Rangers’ School Assembly Program, which reaches approximately 1,000 schools and more than 300,000 students annually. The expanded partnership will cover the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 school years.

Educators will also have access to Call2Recycle classroom materials, including student workbooks and battery collection boxes, allowing schools to reinforce battery recycling lessons and provide students with opportunities to participate in collection activities.

The program will also be promoted through Earth Rangers’ mobile app, website, newsletters, social media channels and YouTube platform, extending its reach beyond schools to students and families. A battery recycling video produced through the partnership has surpassed 800,000 views worldwide, according to the organizations.

“For more than a decade, our partnership with Earth Rangers has inspired hundreds of thousands of young Canadians to become environmental champions through battery recycling,” said Jon McQuaid, Vice-President of Marketing & Communications at Call2Recycle. He said the expanded program will combine school-based education, digital content and take-home resources to support long-term battery recycling habits.

Tovah Barocas, President of Earth Rangers, said the partnership is intended to help students understand how everyday actions such as battery recycling can contribute to environmental protection.

The extended collaboration comes as battery recycling programs in Canada continue to focus on increasing public awareness and participation in the collection of used batteries. By combining educational programming with collection resources, Call2Recycle and Earth Rangers aim to connect environmental education with practical recycling activities in schools and households.
