Aimplas to Host First International Advanced Plastics Materials Seminar in Spain

According to industry reports, Aimplas, a plastics technology center based in Valencia, Spain, will host the first edition of its International Advanced Plastics Materials Seminar HI!-Plastics on October 6-7, 2026. The event will bring together companies, research institutions and technology developers to discuss advances in high-performance plastics materials and their industrial applications.
The seminar is designed to highlight developments in advanced materials used across sectors including aerospace, defense, automotive, transportation, naval, electronics, construction and energy. Aimplas said the event will focus on how new material solutions can improve performance, functionality and sustainability while supporting industrial adoption.
According to Aimplas, demand for lighter, stronger and more sustainable materials is accelerating research and development across the plastics industry. The organization said collaboration between material suppliers, technology centers, manufacturers and end users is increasingly important to move innovations from research stages into commercial applications.
The two-day program will include technical presentations, poster sessions and networking activities, with discussions organized into five thematic areas covering advanced materials, manufacturing processes, dual-use technologies, functional solutions and sustainability strategies.
The first session, Advanced Composites and Structural Materials, will examine developments in structural composite materials, including new reinforcement architectures, advanced polymer matrices and material performance under demanding operating conditions.
The second session, Fire Resistance in Advanced Materials: From Challenges to Applications, will focus on flame-retardant materials and solutions designed to meet evolving safety and regulatory requirements. Topics will include engineering plastics, fire protection strategies for next-generation vehicles and reactive phosphorus-based solutions for rigid polyurethane foams used in construction applications.
The third session, Functional Materials and Advanced Manufacturing Processes, will explore technologies aimed at improving the performance of high-value materials and accelerating their transition from laboratory research to industrial production. Discussions will cover challenges related to scaling, manufacturing integration and commercialization.
The second day will begin with a presentation from the Clean Mobility and Thermofluids group at the Universitat Politècnica de València, which will address opportunities and challenges associated with advanced materials in mobility and energy-related applications.
A session focused on Energy and Dual-Use Technologies will examine how advanced materials can support energy transition projects and strategic applications that serve both civilian and industrial purposes. The final session, Industrial Coatings with Advanced Properties, will highlight surface technologies designed to improve durability, performance and functionality for components used in aerospace, energy and industrial applications.
The seminar reflects growing industry interest in advanced plastics and composite materials as manufacturers seek solutions that combine lightweight design, improved performance and lower environmental impact.
